I will register and release this plant as Freud Reia. I will register it sometime this season, but a ground marker is going out in front of his plant immediately today. I will give his parents a free chunck of the plant prior to it's release. Someone PM me their shipping address please. A sibling or other family member can also take custody of the plants division when it's ready. I just need an address for at least one immediate relitive that will guarantee the division I send reaches his mother. The plant will grow and increase fast enough that all his friends and family in the area this plant is sent to, will be able to get a chunck of it later on. The flowers are 6 inch on 45 inch scapes. So it's tall. It also has 5 way branching with tons of buds. Last year it had 7 scapes of flowers all flowering at once. A dozen flowers a day for over a month and a half of bloomtime. This one is for you Freud.

've spent the past week sorting through my dusty and disheveled memories (I don't have much else, for I was/am notoriously terrible at keeping mementos). I'm no good when it comes to dates, but I remember things by other markers: monuments, sounds, locations, tattoos.

I met Freud when he lived with Jesse on Gilman street, and after that there was the castle house, the haunted bar (Sweet Jimmy's), Opal Street, our place in Seattle (45th and Laytona???), and the house on Cortland in SF. The Cortland Street house is the last place I visited, and from then on we would always meet in public or at my place(s).

I remember his 400four Honda, and the big white car. I kinda remember some insane Ducati and other similar bikes too, mostly because they lacked passenger pegs, so I would have to hold my feet precariously up and away from the chain.

Other random memories are of sharkskin 3 button suits, Jameson fifths, the posters that he would hang in every room (Heroin & Chickenhead stand out). Photobooths and barstools. He had a habit of trying to fashion me as a pool shark, and would get people to bet money on my games. I'm pretty sure it was just dumb luck that got us out safe each time.

Kirike, arm wrestling, jinx removing, Billy the Kid, Drum & Bali Shag, sta-prest, new wave belts, midnight movies, anchors.

This is it for now. I wish I could pull out some anecdote about one of the (many) fun/crazy/silly times we had, alone or with friends, but everything is too cattywampus. In the early years of our friendship I was still learning how to be a friend, and sadly that took a long, long time to figure out. I lived in the moment (like that exact moment, no hindsight, no longview), and was a bit of a tornado. Luckily I wasn't the only one, and lots of tornadoes together can be a wild time.

I've just had a half a cup of coffee, and I may delete this after the full dose of caffeine hits my brain.

i met Freud (in person, after months of correspondence) on new year's eve day 1991, when i came out to stay with him in San Diego for a "short visit", with 1 bag and 23 cents in my pocket...a visit that turned into years. He was living on 30th (or 32nd?) st. in North Park at the time, with his mother and of course, Jake the dog. Hot weather and driving around in his blue Chevrolet listening to Fang and reading absurd fanzines and working lousy jobs (yes this is when he was still a rent-a-cop); going to the Che Cafe and teaching me to play bass and eventually moving to the house on Quimby St. ...Today i found emails from one of the last times we met up (11/2002), and thought "god, have i really not seen Freud in almost 15 years?!", googled and found...this. WTF, as they say.
Thanks for everything, darlin', wherever you are.
